What is Allergy?
Allergies are caused when the body’s immune system produces a vigorous reaction to a substance which, although harmless, is believed to be a threat to the body. There are many different types of substances that can cause allergies.
These include medication, food, toxins, insect venom, and a host of environmental factors, including pollen, dust, mold, perfume, cats, dogs, fungicide, cosmetics, dander, wool, dust mites, etc. Allergic reactions can be very unpleasant and include sneezing, runny nose, sinusitis, redness or itching of the eyes, coughing, broncho constriction, wheezing, asthma attacks, swelling of the airwaves, ear aches, rashes, eczema, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, and bloating.
Allergy Treatment Plan
There is no simple single plan that is completely effective in the treatment of allergies. Medication can and does help, but avoidance of the allergens that stimulate the allergic reaction has to be an integral part of any allergy treatment plan. The most important method for control of allergies therefore, must be reduction of exposure to allergens and increased hygiene.
If your allergies are being triggered when you are at home, it is very likely that the problems may be caused by carpet that is not thoroughly clean. Your carpet is one of the most efficient filters known, and will trap most of the allergens mentioned above.
That is great because it helps to clean the internal environment of your home, but if the carpet is not cleaned regularly, allergens, will build up in it, and lead to bigger problems when they are released over time. So the key to reducing exposure to allergens is to make sure your carpet is kept clean.
Daily Vacuuming is Essential
For allergy sufferers, daily vacuuming of the carpet is essential. Choose a good efficient carpet vacuum and maintain it properly. Make sure the belts are in good working condition, the brushes and cleaning, and they dust collectors emptied after each use.
In addition to vacuuming, your carpet should be spot cleaned regularly. A good household carpet shampoo will come in handy here. Clean the carpet as often as you like. Increase the frequency of cleaning when you notice that your allergic reactions are beginning to flare up.
Professional Carpet Cleaning Biannually
Become familiar with carpet cleaning methods so that your cleaning would be as efficient as possible. Make sure you use cleaning solutions that will not trigger allergic reactions. People who suffer from allergies are often very sensitive to many different kinds of chemicals. Professional carpet cleaners know how to use hypoallergenic chemicals when cleaning for allergy sufferers.
It is essential that if you suffer from allergies, your carpet should be cleaned by a competent professional carpet cleaner at least twice per year. By doing so you will get rid of potential allergens in the carpet, and your home environment will remain clean and fresh and healthy all year round.
