Cleaning Tips for Your RV

What are some tips to clean your house?

More and more people are getting out on the road in their recreational vehicles (RVs). Numbers from Statista show that revenue of the U.S. RV park industry has steadily risen each year since 2009. According to industry analysts, RV shipments are expected to rise in 2014 and 2015. In 2014 alone, there will be millions of Americans on the road and camping in their RVs. Taking a vacation in your RV can leave you with a lifetime of memories. It can also leave you with plenty of cleaning up to do. Here’s how you can return your RV to pristine condition after a trip.

Interior and Exterior Cleaning

Residue from the road can build-up on the surface of your vehicle. That’s why regular maintenance is necessary in order to prevent lasting damage. Most experts recommend only using cleaning agents that are specifically formulated for RVs. Don’t use liquid dish soap as it can be too strong for many paints and finishes. When washing windows, you can use a vinegar and water solution to prevent streaks and water spots. Remember to dust and clean small spaces such as ceiling vents and inside window tracks. By keeping these areas clean you can help prevent further circulation of dust.

Vacuuming

Much of the dust and dirt from the road can be removed through vacuuming. There are many cleaners that are designed to handle the small spaces of a typical RV. Regular vacuuming is important in order to prevent soil from becoming embedded in the fibers. Use a machine with a HEPA filter in order to improve the air quality of the space.

Upholstery Cleaning

Professional cleaning is recommended for your upholstery. Over time, dirt and dust can accumulate in the upholstery. This can eventually cause discoloration and deterioration. While much of this can be removed with vacuuming, it is impossible to remove it all. That’s why deep cleaning is sometimes needed to restore the condition of the upholstery.

Carpet Cleaning

The carpet of your RV will need to be professionally cleaned regularly in order to remove dirt, dust, allergens and other potential contaminants from the road. This will improve both air quality and the overall appearance of your RV. Remember that a professional has all of the right tools needed to restore the carpet.
