How to Clean Frieze Carpet PROVO 84604

What is the difference between Frieze and plush carpet?

Frieze Carpet

Frieze carpet is a popular choice due to its durability and longevity. With a bouncy, springy feel, it is perfect for living rooms, bedrooms and even stairs. The long, twisted fibers are resistant to heavy traffic and will not easily fray.

However, there is a drawback to this textile. The deep pile and twisted fibers of this carpet make it particularly difficult to clean. Here are some tips for how to clean frieze carpet.

Vacuuming Frieze Carpet

The deep pile of frieze carpet requires regular vacuuming. However, the rotating brush and beater bar of some styles of vacuum cleaners can cause damage to frieze carpeting.

It is always important to use the type of vacuum recommended by the carpet manufacturer, whenever possible. It is also necessary to set the appropriate pile height setting on the vacuum. If you feel resistance, you probably need to set it higher.

Some manufacturers even recommend using a vacuum with a suction only setting, or disengaging the beater bar.   The good thing about frieze carpeting is that the twisted fibers make it difficult for dirt to settle deeply into the carpet. You should only need to vacuum the carpet once or twice weekly, depending on traffic levels.

Spot Cleaning

Cleaning spills can be difficult due to the long twisted fibers that comprise this textile. When something is spilled onto the carpet, the spilled material can be spread out in the dense, twisted fibers. This makes it hard to clean up all of the spill because the fibers tend to conceal and hide dirt and stains, allowing soil to be left behind.

Whenever a spilled material isn’t completely cleaned and removed, permanent staining can occur. You may not notice the stain immediately, but as soil is attracted to the spill, the stain will grow larger and darker. This also allows for the growth of bacteria.

That’s why regular professional cleaning is important for this type of carpet.   When spot cleaning, it is important to cover the entire area where the spill took place. Gently work the cleaning solution into the fibers, using a cleaning brush with soft rubber bristles.

Do not apply too much pressure or scrub the carpet. Completely rinse the area with clear water, but do not saturate the carpet. Blot the area until it is almost dry. You may also use fans to speed in the drying process.

Professional Cleaning

Due to the difficulty level involved, professional services are often required. Professionals are trained in the different types of cleaning processes required for each style of carpet. Experts recommend having frieze carpet cleaned at least once a year in order to remove stains and keep it looking like new.
